PHILOSOPHY, RELIGION & ETHICS
Teacher: Miss Tabitha Pollard (tpollard@broadwater.surrey.sch.uk)
Department: HUMANITIES
Humanities Subject Leader: Miss Alice Livingstone alivingstone@broadwater.surrey.sch.uk
Philosophy, Religion & Ethics is an exciting and dynamic subject that students fully embrace at Broadwater. Much more than learning about different religions, our students will develop knowledge, and understanding through our big ideas of conflict, morality and society. The transferable skills of evaluation, challenge and support for arguments enables our students to become critical thinkers in a range of disciplines.
In PRE, we encourage a lot of active discussion and debate based upon a range of contemporary issues that affect people around the world. At Broadwater, we aim to encompass as many faiths from around the world in addition to looking at a number of non-faith based ideas on major modern issues.
Our aim is for students to develop interest and enthusiasm for the study of world views and enhance their own spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

Extra curricular learning:
The humanities department is offering a cross-curricular trip to Poland this year for year 10 students. Our students have also had opportunities such as speaking to visitors from the clergy and an upcoming trip to a mosque.
