Broadwater School strongly believes that no-one should be held back from accessing education due to their period. Last year the Government introduced the period product scheme to provide free products to schools.
Period products, such as pads and tampons, are available from the ‘red box’ discreetly located outside Student Services for all who need them, when they need them, in order to access education. It is not a universal offer of free period products to everyone under the age of 19. Girls, non-binary and transgender learners who have periods all have access to this scheme and can use it if they:
- have forgotten their products
- cannot afford products
- have come on their period unexpectedly
